057 2018/wk46 - What a time to be a foal

Gladbach remains no.2 in German football after a convincing 3-1 victory over Werder Bremen, with top transfer Alassane Plea netting three goals at the Weser. Previously, Gladbach had beaten Mainz (4-0) and Duesseldorf (3-0) at home, and lost to Freiburg (1-3) and, on a dark night at Borussia-Park, 0-5 to Rhine rivals Bayer Leverkusen. Manuel talks you through these matches and gives a brief outlook on the next match vs. Hannover 96 after the international matches break.

046 2017/wk06 - Still unbeaten!

Two more victories in the bag for Dieter Hecking as the Foals beat Freiburg 3-0 in the Bundesliga only to advance to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal with a 2-0 win over Greuther Fürth. The next round will be played at Hamburg on March 1st, but before that it’s Werder Bremen away, AC Fiorentina in the Europa League and a cracking home match on Sunday against RB Leipzig. Manuel talks you through both games.

038 2016/wk38 - Ups and downs

Another week of ups and downs, much like we’ve seen a couple of times in 2016 – 1-3 defeat to Freiburg, followed by a 4-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen leaves the Foals on six points after three Bundesliga matches. Manuel talks you through the games as well as the first Champions League encounter of the season, which was an evening to forget (rather two nights, as the match had been cancelled on Tuesday evening) at Etihad Stadium, Borussia losing to Manchester City 4-0, with Kun Aguero scoring a hattrick for the team of manager Pep Guardiola. No time to dwell on the defeats though, as Borussia is facing RB Leipizig in a mid-week fixture, before hosting FC Ingolstadt at Borussia-Park.

026 2016/wk06 - A tasty victory

Borussia ended the goalless draught on Friday nights with a tasty 5-1 victory over Werder Bremen, who had eliminated the Foals from the DFB-Cup at Borussia-Park just seven weeks ago. The return of Mo Dahoud in midfield certainly helped the attacking play, but it was defender Andreas Christensen who bagged a brace against Werder, his first two goals for Gladbach. This Sunday, Borussia travels to HSV, where André Schubert’s team has only lost one in their last six matches. Manuel reviews and previews the matches.

025 2016/wk05 - Another friday night match

After now two defeats – a strange deja-vu is settling in – the Foals now face Werder Bremen in another Friday night Bundesliga clash at Borussia-Park. Both the match in Bremen as well as the DFB-Cup tie in December went the way of Viktor Skripnik’s squad, while Borussia hasn’t scored in any Friday night match since 2013. Given the poor skills in front of goal in Mainz, André Schubert will have to make sure Borussia is finding their way back into the competition to secure the first points in 2016! Manuel takes you through the Mainz game, the transfer deadline activities and the upcoming Werder-match.

022 2015/wk52 - Winners and Losers

Two more goal-festivals at Borussia-Park at the end of the Hinrunde. First, André Schubert’s squad was eliminated from the DFB-Cup by losing 3-4 to Werder Bremen, who capitalised on a poor second half defensive performance by the Foals. End-to-end-action continued against Darmstadt 98, which took the lead against Gladbach and looked like winners after the Red card for Granit Xhaka, but Borussia impressively bounced back with ten men, and Swedish international Oscar Wendt turned the stadium on its head when he scored a late 3-2-winner for the Foals. Manuel runs you through these matches and proposes three winners and losers of the first half of the season for Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end. 013 2015/wk35 - Groups we have

This week’s show is all about the CL group stage draw, and Borussia was again unlucky, being drawn into Group D, facing Manchester City, Italian champions Juventus Turin and reigning Europa League winners Sevilla FC, who had eliminated Borussia in last season’s KO-round clash on their way to clutching the title.

Aftwards, Manu briefly talks about the second loss of the season, the disappointing 1-2 at home to Mainz, before previewing the match against Werder.

At the end, the newest member of the vollraute-podcast family, the French language “Parlez vous Borussia”, is introduced!

008 2015/wk21 - Championsleague it is!

Borussia did it! The 2-0 win at Bremen not only erased a 28-year-spell without victory at Werder, but also secured Champions League football
next season for good. Manuel talks to Werder-expert Niklas Wildhagen (@normusings) from bundesligafanatic.com and talkingfussball.com about the match and both Werder’s and Gladbach’s season. Lastly, the final matchday with Gladbach hosting Augsburg is previewed.

007 2015/wk20 - Goodbye 1989

Gladbach won the battle of the CL-Teams in style, leaving them five points ahead of Leverkusen with only two games to go. While beating Bayer at home ended a 26-year-long-record for the Rhine region rivals, the foals now travel to Werder Bremen, where Borussia has failed to win in the past 28 (!) years – 1987 saw a stunning 7-1 for Gladbach over Otto Rehagel’s Werder at the time.
