Two more goal-festivals at Borussia-Park at the end of the Hinrunde. First, André Schubert’s squad was eliminated from the DFB-Cup by losing 3-4 to Werder Bremen, who capitalised on a poor second half defensive performance by the Foals. End-to-end-action continued against Darmstadt 98, which took the lead against Gladbach and looked like winners after the Red card for Granit Xhaka, but Borussia impressively bounced back with ten men, and Swedish international Oscar Wendt turned the stadium on its head when he scored a late 3-2-winner for the Foals. Manuel runs you through these matches and proposes three winners and losers of the first half of the season for Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end. Thanks for listening to Vollraute Abroad, merry Xmas and happy holidays!

A week with lots of ups and downs: First, Gladbach defeated Bayern Munich in a true Bundesliga upset 3-1, the first loss for Bayern of the entire season, when a few days later a 2-1 lead to Manchester City was converted into a 2-4 loss within six minutes, as the Blues sealed Borussia’s exit from European football for the season. On the back of Champions-League elimination, Bayer Leverkusen then shocked André Schuberts side, beating the Foals 5-0 in what was in turn the fist defeat for Schubert as Gladbach coach in the Bundesliga.

Still unbeaten in the Bundesliga under now-headcoach André Schubert and a convincing 4-2 against Sevilla in the Champions League, keeping Borussia
in the race for 3rd place in the group to qualify for the Europa League. A hard-fought 2-1 victory over Hannover 96 was followed by a 3-3 thriller at Hoffenheim, where goals from Josip Drmic and Fabian Johnson brought Gladbach back from being 1-3 down. Manuel talks you through the matches, before previewing the upcoming classic against Champions Bayern Munich at Borussia-Park and the last CL-group stage match away to Manchester City.

The winning streak under André Schubert had come to an end, after the convincing 4-1 away victory at Hertha BSC Berlin the Foals drew to promoted
FC Ingolstadt at Borussia-Park 0-0. Still, good times at the club, back on sixth in the League and an impressive performance in the Champions League
against Juventus (1-1), which eliminates Borussia from the competition, unfortunately, but the race for 3rd spot which secures survival in the Europa League
is still wide open. In the German DFB-Cup, Borussia advanced to the round of last 16 with a 2-0 win at Schalke 04! Manuel talks you through all four encounters.

Another successful week for the Foals, as Eintracht Frankfurt was comprehensibly dealt with on their own ground (5-1), before Gladbach secured their first ever Champions League point by goalless drawing to Juventus at Turin! This was followed by a 3-1 win over Schalke, with an outstanding performance by right back Julian Korb, scoring his first ever goal for Borussia. Sadly, Andre Hahn was badly injured and has to be ruled out for months to come. Manuel guides you through the matches.

This week’s show is all about the CL group stage draw, and Borussia was again unlucky, being drawn into Group D, facing Manchester City, Italian champions Juventus Turin and reigning Europa League winners Sevilla FC, who had eliminated Borussia in last season’s KO-round clash on their way to clutching the title.
Aftwards, Manu briefly talks about the second loss of the season, the disappointing 1-2 at home to Mainz, before previewing the match against Werder.
At the end, the newest member of the vollraute-podcast family, the French language “Parlez vous Borussia”, is introduced!

Despite matchday 1 of the Bundesliga turning into a right nightmare for the foals losing 0-4 to Dortmund, Manuel got together with BVB-writer (@espnfc) and podcaster Stephan Buczko (@bvbawesome) to do a double feature that also appeared on his @yellowwallpod episode. Where did it all go wrong for Gladbach, what worked well for hosts BvB? After the detailed round-up of the match, Manuel briefly goes over the season home debut v Mainz on Sunday and new Hertha signing Nico Schulz.
