First, André Schubert’s squad was eliminated from the DFB-Cup by losing 3-4 to Werder Bremen, who capitalised on a poor second half defensive performance by the Foals. End-to-end-action continued against Darmstadt 98, which took the lead against Gladbach and looked like winners after the Red card for Granit Xhaka, but Borussia impressively bounced back with ten men, and Swedish international Oscar Wendt turned the stadium on its head when he scored a late 3-2-winner for the Foals.
