A rollercoaster-season came to a happy end with Gladbach securing 4th spot in the Bundesliga. The change from Lucien Favre to André Schubert,
the comeback to the top of the Bundesliga after five defeats at the start, Champions-League at Borussia Park, win after win at home while losing matches on the road – Manuel talks you through the season before taking a look at the new and rumored signings, players leaving and the dates for the new season to come!

Hooray, Champions League (well, play-offs!) it is! Two victories to finish the season convincingly, the 2-1 over third-placed Bayer Leverkusen effectively meant 4th spot for the Foals, who, as a reminder, had been rock bottom of the league after five matchdays. That fourth rank was further cemented with a 2-0 away win to Darmstadt, the first three points on the road in 2016! Manuel quickly goes through both matches, bids farewell to Roel Brouwers and Martin Stranzl, before discussing recent transfer rumors and squad news.

Borussia ended the goalless draught on Friday nights with a tasty 5-1 victory over Werder Bremen, who had eliminated the Foals from the DFB-Cup at Borussia-Park just seven weeks ago. The return of Mo Dahoud in midfield certainly helped the attacking play, but it was defender Andreas Christensen who bagged a brace against Werder, his first two goals for Gladbach. This Sunday, Borussia travels to HSV, where André Schubert’s team has only lost one in their last six matches. Manuel reviews and previews the matches.

Two more goal-festivals at Borussia-Park at the end of the Hinrunde. First, André Schubert’s squad was eliminated from the DFB-Cup by losing 3-4 to Werder Bremen, who capitalised on a poor second half defensive performance by the Foals. End-to-end-action continued against Darmstadt 98, which took the lead against Gladbach and looked like winners after the Red card for Granit Xhaka, but Borussia impressively bounced back with ten men, and Swedish international Oscar Wendt turned the stadium on its head when he scored a late 3-2-winner for the Foals. Manuel runs you through these matches and proposes three winners and losers of the first half of the season for Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end. Thanks for listening to Vollraute Abroad, merry Xmas and happy holidays!
