082 What a difference a match makes

And the difference is a win at home! 90 short minutes (plus injury time) and those moments of bliss, those thrilling Denis Zakaria runs, brought us our first win of the season. As Dinah Washington would undoubtedly agree, there’s nothing better than three points in the league, and we definitely prefer a win against relegation-battling Bielefeld to an epic draw against the serial Bundesliga champions.

In our view, this warrants a euphoric, over-the-top 3-hour-special, but we have painstakingly edited the podcast down to our standard smoothly and professionally executed 30 minutes. Forget the peevishness and ill-humour of our last podcast and join us to celebrate (I’ll say it again) Denis Zakaria, as well as superhero Capitano Lars Stindl. Honourable mentions are made of some of our talented young new team members who gave it their all. Brows are furrowed as we wonder why Fabian Neuhaus can’t stop playing those kamikaze passes. It’s Alexis’ turn to recount what it was like to be in the half-full Nordpark stadium. (Spoiler: It was fantastic!)

Oh yes, there’s a quick preview of our next match, away to Augsburg (groan!), a team not unlike (shudder!) Union Berlin.

“Legendary goals” tries to settle the delicate nerves of Borussia Mönchengladbach fans by featuring Lars Stindl’s goal against Augsburg in 2015. (Lars must be thrilled to bits that he is second only to Juan Arango in the Legendary Goals hitparade!)

055 2018/wk36 - More, PLEAse!

Good start to the 18/19 season for Gladbach with an emphatic 11-1 win in the Cup competition against Hastedt and an eventually convincing home victory on Matchday 1, 2-0 to highly rated Bayer Levekusen. The Foals then travelled to Augsburg where 23€M signing Allasane Plea bagged a goal to get the team a 1-1 draw. Manuel talks you through these games and takes a look at both the new signings and the new 4-3-3, and how the squad adapts to this new formation.

051 2017/wk37 - Average again

Four matchdays into the season and Borussia M’gladbach is ranked one place lower than in the 16/17 season on tenth position. A strong comeback from two Leipzig leads to get a point from the 2-2 draw to RB was preceded by a weak performance and a loss to Franfurt at home and a late equalizer in Augsburg against the Foals (2-2). Still, the 2-1 cup win against Essen and the convincing 1-0 in the derby against struggling Cologne are positives of the first five weeks of the season, which undoubtedly have seen Borussia being ‘on’ and ‘off’ in terms of performance. Manuel rounds up these first games and highlights the talking points regarding squad, injured players and individual performances.

027 2016/wk08 - Derby Dahoud

After the poor performance at Hamburg (2-3), Borussia turned it around in the derby against Cologne, with Mo Dahoud scoring the much-celebrated winner early in the game. Now the Foals face Augsburg away on the weekend, before VfB Stuttgart, the best team of the Rückrunde, travels to Borussia-Park for some mid-week action on Wednesday. Manuel talks you through the matches against Hamburg and Cologne and previews the upcoming two matches, plus looks at the squad options for these fixtures.
