Right! Sorry to have kept you waiting, but the dog ate our recording. You will have been waiting with baited breath, surely, to see whether we are still as content as we were in episode 90 with the direction the undoubtedly greatest team, club and coach in the world are going. Or are they going in a direction at all? Listen to this episode to find out if we know the answer.
In episode 91 we present a recap of 9 matches in one slim, trim podcast. The dedicated listeners to Vollraute Abroad will know that we love categorising our team’s performances – this time it’ll be: the unforgivable, the undistinguishable, and the unforgettable – our team has been going from one extreme to the next. On the one hand, we rejoice in the VERY IMPORTANT derby win against Cologne, which was, to our great relief, a grand success and – as Borussia folklore has it – an omen that Daniel Farke is indeed the chosen one. On the other, we indulge in horrible and gruesome revenge fantasies against the club, players, fans and inhabitants of Darmstadt. Further talking points: the alarming amount of injuries afflicting the team and, as usual, upcoming matches.
This episode’s legendary goal is from a match against the valiant Champions League contenders and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt who will be coming to Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening, 22nd October, and who actually weren’t good sports at all the last time they showed up. But not as rotten as Darmstadt.
A very bad mood is wavering through Moenchengladbach and its fanszene. Manuel and Alexis try to analyze what happened in the derby against Cologne and about what’s lying ahead in Wolfsburg who play a strong season so far.
In our sections of legendary goals we take a look back how Marco Reus and the whole team of Borussia dismantled Wolfsburg in past times.

Again Manuel is joined by Alexis and they talk you through the Cologne Derby, the CL draw and Nationalteam-Break.
This time just some postproduction ;-)

The pod is back with a bang – the Rhine derby is on the menu, and boy was it a rotten menu. A 1-2 defeat to archrivals Cologne with the decisive goal in the last seconds of the match leaves all Borussia supports heartbroken. Raffael had equalized for the Foals, but an overall meek performance was, again, not enough to beat a feisty opposition. Manuel runs you through the game and quickly discusses the two talking points of the winter break, the signing of Reece Oxford and Max Eberl’s vocal outburst against the supporters during the HSV match.

Four matchdays into the season and Borussia M’gladbach is ranked one place lower than in the 16/17 season on tenth position. A strong comeback from two Leipzig leads to get a point from the 2-2 draw to RB was preceded by a weak performance and a loss to Franfurt at home and a late equalizer in Augsburg against the Foals (2-2). Still, the 2-1 cup win against Essen and the convincing 1-0 in the derby against struggling Cologne are positives of the first five weeks of the season, which undoubtedly have seen Borussia being ‘on’ and ‘off’ in terms of performance. Manuel rounds up these first games and highlights the talking points regarding squad, injured players and individual performances.

Two wins, a draw and two defeats – a pretty average April sees Gladbach on tenth position in the League. But with four games to go, the Europa League is still only a couple of points away. Still, the debut of Laszlo Benes and the derby-win over Cologne were highlights. Manuel talks you through the matches and provides an overview over the team’s current status.

Borussias woes continue in the League, a 1-2 defeat in the Derby with Cologne was followed by a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim, seeing the Foals adrift in the League on 13th position without a win in seven matches. However, the CL proved more successful, as Manchester City was held to a 1-1 draw at Borussia-Park, which means Gladbach will finish third in the group, qualifying for the Europa League knock-out stages next year. Manuel talks you through the matches.

After the poor performance at Hamburg (2-3), Borussia turned it around in the derby against Cologne, with Mo Dahoud scoring the much-celebrated winner early in the game. Now the Foals face Augsburg away on the weekend, before VfB Stuttgart, the best team of the Rückrunde, travels to Borussia-Park for some mid-week action on Wednesday. Manuel talks you through the matches against Hamburg and Cologne and previews the upcoming two matches, plus looks at the squad options for these fixtures.
Sorry for the poor audio quality this time.

Manuel is taking a look back to the HSV home game, the first real Championsleague game since the 70s.
Of course the upcoming Rheinderby is in focus as well and Manuel is analyzing what we can expect in terms of tactics and line-up. Well, could it get any worse?
Thank you Ibra Traoré :-)
